In The Window Bloke
Moved by recent posts on Peter Ashley's 'Unmitigated England' site, I thought I'd go and get some live shots of Bristol's wonderful Kensington showroom. So here you are. There are five cars just waiting to be bought; two Fighters, a Beaufighter, a Blenheim and the 408 shown here. I'll let the photo-copied 'Sales Literature' do the rest of the talking.

Hi Fred! Great Blog!!
I have to be honest and say that, for me, after the 404/5 - and particularly, when the Chrysler engine was adopted - I think Bristols lost something. Like, being proper cars. A bit like Alvis really, which became too much like the tanks they were based on....
But any showroom full of big, expensive metal is good...so this is a great set of photos!
Fabulous Fred, thankyou for recording the showroom, particularly at night with the neon lettering. I must get down there and press my not inconsiderable hooter up against the glass again. That's "hooter" Camilla", as in "nose".
'spose Bristols are okay, but I had the thrill of following a Citroen 'Heavy' 15/6 up the Autoroute, near Riems this week. it was CRUISING at 85 mph. I gave chase for a bit, then gave up. It's slippery black bodywork sped down the outside lane keeping up with, and outpacing, many cars 55 years it's junior. I didn't spot Magrait in the passenger seat, but did imagine how it must have been, on the trail of some garlic eating villains.
I see that the ne wRepublican VP hopeful has an offspring called Bristol. One presumes it's a girl....
As for the 'Heavy' 15, what a fabulous car that was! Just had the teensiest bit of understeer in corners as I recall!!!
